Lyle Thomas Moore
More from Glenola, Lyle's Sister:
Our parents were Charles William Moore and Glendean Grisell. There were 8 of us Moores'. Lyle Thomas, Glenola Margaret, Charles Wesley, Boyd Tracy, Reuben Mark, Steven Lance, Vivian Jean and Rebecca Evelyn. Lyle was an A student all during his schooling but he quit school after his 10th year to join the Peace Corp. Our parents had just divorced and Lyle thought he could help with expenses.
After the training, he decided to not stay in and joined the Army with his cousin. His cousin was medically discharged after one month in basic training. Lyle took his service very seriously but he said the hardest part was to get past the do not kill he was taught all during his life. We were raised LDS (Mormon) and doing harm bothered Lyle. Lyle sent most of his pay home to help Mom, even though she had remarried, Lyle knew things were tight. Lyle and I were the oldest and took on a lot of responsibility with the siblings.
Lyle wanted to be called Tommy in middle school but changed it back to Lyle in high school. He was a talented artist, especially with pencil drawings and he had beautiful handwriting. He was engaged to the love of his life. She still keeps in touch with us. I have other pictures of him as a youngster.
