Tribute to a Fallen Hero
Name: SSGT Larry Theis Larry Theis
The pictures in this album were taken by Staff Sargeant Larry Theis, one of our
fallen heros. Larry was killed in action defending freedom. During the period 18 to 30 May 1970 the
Triple Deuce battled elements of the 9th NVA Division along the
Cambodian/Vietnam border, where the Triple Deuce lost 14 soldiers and many
others wounded during fights near Krek in what is now known as
"Ambush Alley"... the elevated road, surrounded by brush
on one side and rice paddies on the other, was totally in a location that
favored the NVA, due to the beginning of monsoon season, tracked vehicles were
easily mired and had to stay on those narrow roads making ambush all too easy.
